Harvest weekend for Water Aid

Last week we celebrated Harvest whilst raising money for the charity Water Aid. A total of £300.00 was sent to Water Aid to help with their work in bringing clean water to communities in the UK and around the World.

On Saturday the 15th September we held a Coffee Morning. This was well attended and we served plenty of hot and cold drinks along with Toasted Teacakes with all the proceeds going to Water Aid. People brought their harvest gifts which were attractively displayed by Vernie ready for the Sunday service.

The following day we held our Annual Harvest Service which was taken by our Pastor Julie. As with every year we saw a very good turnout. There was a lovely atmosphere and all took an active part in the Service. We began the singing with traditional Harvest hymns and then took the theme of God's provision to us via a Crossword. We then used the letters of HARVEST to make other words that showed the meaning of harvest. We also included a piece of drama into the service which had the Congregation in stitches of laughter.

As our charity was Water Aid, Julie used some data and statistics from them to share with the congregation, including a video of the joy it brought when a water tap was installed in a village.

We ended the service with Tea/Coffee and Biscuits whilst the congregation selected the produce from the Harvest display in exchange for a donation for Water Aid.
