The Air Ambulance

Our August Coffee Morning which we hosted on 18th August was well supported despite many members being away on holiday. We served the ever popular Toasted Tea Cakes as well as Tea, Coffee and Biscuits but that wasn't all - those who attended were also treated to a piece of a chocolate birthday cake as one member celebrated her 80th Birthday on the day.

We raised £110.00 for the local Air Ambulance which covers Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.

We recently received a letter thanking us for our donation to help keep them flying.

The letter explained that in 2017 they attended over 2000 missions across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Within minutes the critical care team are at the scene delivering life saving care at road traffic collisions, sports events and industrial accidents.

They fly two regional air ambulances, across the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland. These two helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies over an area of 3850 square miles covering many of the UK’s major road networks including the M1, M6, M69 and M42. With an average response of just 13 minutes, between them they attend on average 6 missions a day.

Backed up by teams in cars for areas where a helicopter cannot land the team effectively bring emergency hospital care to the patient and can be the difference between life or death.
