Wigston Male Voice Choir in Concert
On Saturday 28th October we are hosting an evening of musical entertainment by the Wigston & District Male Voice Choir. We are looking forward to welcoming them back to Blaby Congregational Church again, it has been almost 5 years since their sell out concert here in 2018.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, the choir was formed by Peter Ward, its Musical Director, in 1972.
The Wigston & District Male Voice Choir currently has approximately 50 choristers. It has achieved successes in Male Voice, Large Choir and Choral Championship classes at competitive music festivals, but is better known now as a concert choir, performing with celebrity guests from the world of music and theatre in a variety of prestigious venues.
The choir is accompanied by pianist Pam Birchall who has been working with the choir for many years in addition to her commitment to teaching music and piano.
We are fortunate that one of the choir members, Ernest, joins us regularly on Sundays with his wonderful voice as well as joining our small singing group to learn new hymns.
Everyone is welcome to Join us to hear this wonderful choir, expect a varied programme of choral music introduced by its Musical Director, Peter Ward, as well as humorous tales and some musical surprises.
There will also be solo performances from Sue Holtom and , providing a musical contrast to the choir (and allowing them a short rest!).
Refreshments will be served at the interval and there is also a Raffle with some great prizes.
