Nora Clarke

It was with much sadness that we learnt of the death of Nora Clarke on Thursday 29th August aged 100. Nora was our eldest and longest serving church member having been made a member on January 1st 1933 at just 14 years old.

Nora was committed and dedicated to this church and its Congregational roots throughout her life. She could remember the day the foundations of the current church building were laid and the first service held here. She gave so much to this church during her life, being a Sunday School teacher, a Council member, attending every event and being involved in any rota available.

We have missed her constant presence in the last few years as she became unable to get to church and yet she was still a part of our church life with several regular visitors from the congregation and she was named in our prayers every Sunday.

Nora had a strong faith and shared this with others. She was honest, kind, caring and encouraging and she will be missed by so many in the church. God bless Nora.

Our thoughts are with Alan and Val and Nora's wider family at this time. We will join them for Nora's funeral on Thursday.
