Dear Church Friends
During June we will celebrate what is probably the most underrated celebration of the Christian faith, Pentecost. We are happy to decorate the church and buy each other gifts to welcome Jesus into the world, we are there for the Easter services too, full of sadness and then joy, but when it comes to Pentecost, we seem to think of it as an ordinary day.
Pentecost is the third greatest Christian festival, it is a celebration of the third part of the Trinity. Christmas is about God sending His Son, Easter is about Jesus’ death and resurrection, Pentecost is the sending of the Holy Spirit.

God living with us always and forever, His Spirit infilling our lives enabling us to work for Him. His presence is like a fire that lives in us, keeping us warm and giving us the right words to use. Peter and the disciples were cowering in the Upper Room, when fire and wind ripped through the room they were in. Suddenly these timid men were so emboldened that they left the Upper Room and spoke (in many languages) to the assembled Jews, words that accused them of killing Jesus, and then telling them how they could be saved and given eternal life. Peter and the others were persecuted and killed for speaking about Jesus, but as Peter put it ‘as for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard’ (Acts 4:20). Their lives were changed by the inpouring of God’s Holy Spirit and the world would never be the same again.
Our world needs the words of Jesus right here and right now, His hope and peace and love need to be part of our DNA through His Spirit that lives in us. So, we need to jump and shout for joy on 8th June for God has come to live with us, Jesus said ‘Be assured I am with you always to the end of time’ (Matthew 28:20).
So let us celebrate this festival with our every being.
Every Blessing
Julie
